Fender Bassman Head - USA 1972 (Blackface Panel)
Pickup currently unavailable
The Bassman started life as a bass amp, but its punchy cleans and smooth overdrive when pushed made it a favourite among guitarists, and it remains one of Fender’s most useful and best-loved designs.
This 50 watt head has a chassis and electronics dating to 1972, confirmed by the CTS date codes on the potentiometers (7205, week 5 of 1972) and the chassis serial number A65826. It is fitted with a blackface-style front panel. The originality of the panel and cabinet has not been verified, and the amp is offered on the basis of its chassis and electronics.
The amp has been refurbished and modified. The Bass channel has been converted to a Tweed-style circuit for grittier breakup and more touch sensitivity, while the Normal channel keeps a more conventional Fender voicing. There is a service mark inside dated 2012, and the full service history is unknown. A well-sorted player’s amp, priced for its sound rather than as an all-original collectible.
Comes with a custom protective cover.
