Fender 40th Anniversary Telecaster 264 of 300 - USA 1989

Introduced to mark Fender's 40th year of production, the 40th Anniversary Telecaster was a genuine limited edition run built to showcase the model at its finest. Fender Custom Shop produced just 300 examples in total, released across three finishes, honey violin sunburst, tinted natural and translucent red, with roughly 100 made in each colour. Where a standard-issue Telecaster of the era kept things simple, these anniversary examples were dressed up with flame maple tops, gold hardware and individual edition numbering, making them a genuine standout for collectors chasing something a little more special than the usual blackguard or blonde example.

This particular example is numbered 264 of 300 overall, one of around 100 finished in translucent red, made in the USA in 1989. It's finished in a striking translucent red over a beautifully flamed maple top, paired with gold hardware throughout, tuners, bridge and control plate, along with a cream pickguard trimmed in gold pinstripe binding that echoes the cream and gold body binding running the full outline of the guitar. The neck is one-piece flame maple with a matching maple fretboard, giving the whole instrument a cohesive, high-end look that's a step above the standard Telecaster spec of the period.

This guitar presents in excellent to mint condition with very little play on it, genuinely close to as-new. It comes complete with its original Fender tweed hardshell case, blonde tweed with brown leather trim and a red plush lined interior, along with the original Certificate of Authenticity, cable, strap, and the original warranty and caution tags still present. It's an exceptionally complete, well cared for example of a genuinely limited production guitar.
