Cole Clark Fat Lady 2 FL2EC Blackwood – AUS 2022

Cole Clark guitars are built in Melbourne from Australian timbers, and the Fat Lady 2 is the model that shows them off best. This FL2EC is the cutaway dreadnought, built in November 2022 with a solid blackwood top, back and sides, a Queensland maple neck and a Satin Box fingerboard. It is all solid timber, with Cole Clark's internally carved top and back construction.

Blackwood is the star. The warm red-gold timber is beautifully figured across the top and back, and there is a distinctive contrasting centre strip down the back. The rosette is a bold triangular timber inlay in red and pale maple, and the fingerboard has small timber inlays that sit well against the pale Satin Box. The headstock carries the Cole Clark logo with "Melbourne | Australia" and the gold Grover tuners match the rest of the hardware. The satin finish lets the timber breathe and feels great in the hand.

It is plugged in as well as it sounds acoustically. The Cole Clark PG3 pickup system gives you a natural, balanced amplified tone, with the onboard controls on the upper bout and the output jack on the end pin. It has the clear, punchy projection that blackwood is known for.

Condition is near mint. The finish is clean and the guitar shows only the faintest signs of handling, with no buckle rash, dings or wear. It comes in its original Cole Clark tweed hardshell case with black plush lining, along with the original booklet and Grover warranty card, so it is complete.

If you've been looking for a quality Australian-made cutaway acoustic that sounds great on stage or at home, this is a very good one.
