Every so often, we at Premier Guitars get the opportunity to list guitars with an amazing history, and this 1929 Gibson L-0 is one of those guitars. This guitar was bought by the current owner's grandmother in 1937 and has been lovingly played and meticulously looked after ever since. It is extremely rare to see a guitar of this vintage remain in the ownership of one family for nearly 90 years. This L-0 still has the 'Made in U.S.A by Gibson Inc. Kalamazoo Mich.' sticker planted firmly in the soundhole, the small 'Made in the USA' stamp on the back of the headstock, the initials 'MP' are also engraved there.

This 1929 Gibson L-0 acoustic guitar, a natural-coloured version akin to the renowned Robert Johnson guitar, offers superb sound and playability. It hails from the L-series, first introduced in 1925 as entry-level instruments. By 1928, the L-0 had evolved with enhancements like an all-mahogany body and neck, rosewood fretboard, ebony nut, and a shorter rosewood bridge, all of which this model features.

The Factory Order Number (FON) on the neck heel, 9379, confirms its 1929 origins per Gibson's factory records. Post-1930, the L-0's body design underwent significant changes, making this guitar a rare piece of musical history.

The guitar delivers dreamy vintage tones and is comfortable to play, thanks to its perfectly rounded, substantial yet manageable neck. It is remarkably clean for its 95 years, with a few scratches and marks on the top and back, but only small cosmetic blemishes. There is a small gap between the top and the binding on the upper bout as shown in photo 11, but again is cosmetic and doesn't effect the guitars structural integrity or playability whatsoever. There is also a very small crack on the side near the lower bout.

Here is an opportunity to own a special part of history with an immaculate example of a 1920s Gibson flat-top acoustic guitar.

Comes in a non-original hardshell case.
