Vintage Gibson Les Paul Custom - USA 1972
Pickup currently unavailable
Here is a late-’60s Gibson Les Paul Custom in a multi-bound black finish, representing the reintroduction era of the model following its return in 1968. Unlike the original ’50s versions, these post-reissue Customs feature a refined headstock angle, shorter neck tenon, and later construction updates including a maple-topped mahogany “sandwich” body with multi-ply binding and elaborate cosmetic appointments.
This example features an ebony fingerboard with mother-of-pearl block inlays, multi-ply bound top and back, and a three-piece mahogany neck with a small volute. It retains its original pickups and wiring, delivering the powerful, full-bodied humbucker tone the model is known for. The gold hardware has naturally aged and tarnished over time, adding to its vintage character.
Condition is very good with honest cosmetic wear, including light dents, scratches, and buckle rash on the back, while the neck remains clean and comfortable. The frets show noticeable wear and will likely require attention in the future, though the guitar currently plays well. This is a highly original example, complete with original pickup covers included in the case. Comes with its original hard shell case.
