Vintage Gibson ES-330TD - USA 1964

Here is a 1964 Gibson ES-330, an exceptional example of Gibson’s fully hollow double cutaway design that has become one of the most expressive and responsive vintage electric guitars of its era. Visually similar to the ES-335, the ES-330 differs with its fully hollow construction and P-90 pickup configuration, delivering a more open, acoustic-like voice with rich harmonic complexity and natural resonance.

This example features a fully hollow maple body with a classic sunburst finish, producing a warm, fat and dynamically responsive tone that excels across jazz, blues, country and rock settings. Weighing just over 6lb, it is exceptionally lightweight and highly resonant, making it a very immediate and interactive instrument both acoustically and amplified.

It is fitted with a set of Jason Lollar P-90 pickups, enhancing clarity, articulation and harmonic depth while retaining the raw vintage character the model is known for. A push-pull modification on the neck volume control provides phase reversal in the middle position, unlocking additional tonal versatility including a distinctive “T-Bone Walker” style out-of-phase sound.

Playability has been significantly improved with a professional jumbo refret and fret dress carried out by Frank Grubisa, resulting in a smooth, buzz-free playing experience with low action around 1.5mm at the 12th fret. The neck profile is notably substantial for a 1964 model, reflecting the sought-after transitional “chunkier” feel that many players consider a highlight of this year.

Condition is excellent overall with no cracks or structural repairs. The original finish is well preserved with only light patina and minimal wear, showing no significant buckle rash or fingerboard pitting. The tuners appear to be later Kluson-style replacements with correct footprint and full functionality.
