Greco Japan had their basses built at Tokyo’s Matsumoko facility from 1971 to 1975, before moving production to Fujigen,

This Greco model PB-750 is based on a Fender Precision bass, but with the interesting addition of a Jazz Bass style pickup in the bridge position.

    Features –

    PB-750N Matsumoku Electric Bass

    Made in Japan

    Body: Sen (Japanese Ash)

    Fingerboard: Maple

    Neck Material: Maple

    Colour: Natural

    Pickups: 1 x P Bass and 1 x J Bass

Number of frets: 20 (scale approx. 870 mm)

Controls: 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 3 Way Switch

    Nut width: Approx 41 mm

    Weight: 11.5 lbs

Designed to replicate the look of Fender's pioneering P Bass model, this Greco delivers a distinctive range of classic bass tonalities with clear, defined low end, midrange punch, and good top end articulation.

But with the J Bass style bridge pickup singled out, an aggressive growl is on display, with a prominent cut and midrange that still retains a nice low end.

With both of the pickups engaged it's easy to dial in a nice balance of midrange punch and low end warmth.

For the past decade or so this Greco bass has been used in a working studio. It has been well set up and plays comfortably in all positions. It has a medium low action and accurate intonation.

The original pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Basslines units. And the bridge is a very solid Schaller style replacement.

The maple neck has a slender C shape with slight shoulders, filling out gradually as you travel up the fretboard. The bass adheres to traditional Fender specs with a 1 1/2" nut width, full 34" scale, and 7 1/2" fretboard radius.

The frets show very little wear and have plenty of life left. The original nickel-plated clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

Overall presentation and performance is very good. All of the electronics work smoothly and quietly. There is one control knob missing. Cosmetic wear is limited to some small dings and light scratches in the body finish - somewhat expected in an instrument of this age, but nothing offensive. The pickguard has a small channel cut to allow better access to the base of the truss rod.

This bass has a great voice, a solid feel, and a good setup ready for the studio and stage.

Comes in an older gig bag in reasonable condition.
