Here is a 1964 VOX AC-50 head paired with a VOX V4083 cabinet, a classic British amplifier setup developed during a pivotal moment in live music history. As stages became louder in the mid-1960s, VOX introduced the AC-50 to deliver greater power and headroom than the earlier AC-30, helping players cut through increasingly energetic and noisy performances while retaining the brand’s signature tonal character.

This early AC-50 features a pair of EL34 power tubes, producing a firmer low end and noticeably increased output. The Normal channel offers a full, clean response with strong headroom, while the Brilliant channel delivers a brighter, more forward voice reminiscent of VOX’s iconic Top Boost character. The accompanying V4083 cabinet, with its 2x10 closed-back design, provides a tighter low end and focused projection, pairing well with the head for a punchy, controlled sound.
