Vintage Gretsch White Falcon 7594 Signed by Neil Young - USA 1972
Pickup currently unavailable
A stunning and exceptionally original 1972 Gretsch White Falcon (model 7594), finished in its iconic signature Gretsch White with rare block inlays and all the bold, gold-laden styling that cemented the Falcon as one of the most legendary electric guitars of the 20th century. This example is made even more special by a handwritten signature from Neil Young, who is famously associated with Gretsch guitars—most notably his White Falcon, which became an integral part of his tone and image during the early ‘70s and beyond. This guitar includes the original Gretsch hardshell case, making it a true vintage standout from the Baldwin era, steeped in both sonic and cultural significance.
With serial number 22202 or 32202, this Falcon was built in February or March of 1972—a time when the model had fully embraced its role as Gretsch’s flagship. It features a laminated maple body, laminated rock maple neck, and a bound ebony fingerboard with striking block position markers. The original Hi-Sensitive Filter’Tron pickups deliver a beautifully articulate tone—bright and shimmering in the highs, punchy in the mids, and tight through the low end. It’s a sound that has defined everything from country rock to alternative and Americana, and one that Neil Young himself helped make iconic.
Playability is superb, with a straight neck, low action, and frets in excellent condition. The finish is clean overall, with only light lacquer checking consistent with age. The binding is fully intact across the body and neck, with the exception of a small 1cm section missing at the top of the headstock—purely cosmetic and non-structural. The front of the headstock has been lightly refinished, and the 'Gretsch' inlay professionally restored—a common and well-regarded treatment due to the fragile materials used on these models.
All hardware remains original, including the gold-plated tuners, Bigsby vibrato, adjustable roller bridge, dual flip-up mutes, classic ‘G’ knobs, and the iconic gold pickguard with White Falcon motif. Visually commanding and historically significant, this White Falcon not only represents the best of Gretsch craftsmanship, but also carries the signature of one of the most influential artists ever to wield one.
