Vintage Gibson Les Paul Jr Double-Cut - USA 1959
Pickup currently unavailable
Introduced as a student model in 1954, the Gibson Les Paul Junior quickly became a cult classic — a stripped-back rock ’n’ roll machine loved by players for its raw tone, resonant mahogany body, and no-frills attitude. By 1958, Gibson had introduced the double cutaway version, giving players improved upper fret access and a sleek, aggressive aesthetic. Today, original double cuts from 1959 are some of the most sought-after Juniors ever made.
This stunning example is a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cut in Faded Cherry, aged to a slightly orange glow that looks absolutely unreal in person — the kind of patina only time can create. It’s in excellent vintage condition, with just the right amount of honest player wear adding character and vibe to a truly iconic guitar.
Loaded with a single original dog-ear P-90, this Junior barks like a rabid dog — raunchy, responsive, and rich in midrange growl. Dial back the volume or tone and it mellows into warm, bluesy textures. Crank it and it spits fire — the ultimate punk, rock, and blues weapon. It’s a one-pickup guitar that somehow does it all.
The neck has that classic late-’50s feel — chunky but incredibly comfortable — and the guitar plays beautifully with no issues. It’s 100% original, down to the wraparound tailpiece, frets, knobs, and even the shaggy-cool original tweed case, which oozes vintage mojo. The frets show some wear but still life left in them with no buzzing up the fretboard.
If you know, you know — this is one of the most beloved and recorded guitar models in history. No nonsense, just pure, unfiltered Gibson tone. Ready to rock, record, or be admired on the wall (though it’ll never want to stay there long).
