Vintage Martin D12 35 - USA 1972
Pickup currently unavailable
Built in 1972, this Martin D12 35 is a lovely example of one of Martin’s most iconic 12 string models. The D12 35 sits in a sweet spot of Martin’s vintage line, combining the big open dreadnought voice with a warm three piece back design and the lush shimmer that only an old 12 string can deliver. These early 70s Martins have developed a strong following for their balance, depth and reliability, and this guitar shows exactly why they remain so sought after.
This example plays beautifully with a comfortable action and a neck that sits well in the hand despite the wider 12 string profile. The tone is rich and expansive with a smooth low end, clear chime on top and that rolling harmonic spread that makes vintage Martin 12 strings so addictive. It handles open chords effortlessly and has enough headroom and projection to fill a room with ease.
Condition is very good for a 1970s instrument. There are general signs of age and light marks as expected, but nothing structural and nothing that affects playability. It is a well looked after vintage Martin that presents honestly and plays exactly as a good D12 35 should.
