Here is a 2018 Taylor Builder’s Edition K14ce, an early example from the highly regarded Builder’s Edition series, designed under the direction of master builder Andy Powers. This line represents a new era of Taylor’s high-end acoustic craftsmanship, combining innovative design with boutique-level refinement, and this model stands out as one of the most impressive in the range.

Built with a Grand Auditorium body, it features Hawaiian Koa back and sides paired with a torrefied Sitka Spruce top. This combination delivers a rich and expressive tonal character, with the torrefied top providing warmth and responsiveness, while the Koa adds shimmering clarity in the highs and a focused, musical midrange. The result is a beautifully balanced voice suited to a wide range of playing styles.

The Builder’s Edition design places a strong emphasis on player comfort, with a Silent Satin finish, bevelled armrest and cutaway, chamfered body edges, and a contoured neck heel. The feel is exceptionally smooth and ergonomic, making it ideal for extended playing whether on stage, in the studio, or at home.

Tonally, the K14ce is articulate and dynamic, offering excellent note separation for fingerstyle playing while also handling strumming with depth and clarity. The onboard Expression System 2 electronics capture its natural acoustic voice with impressive accuracy when amplified.
