The Gibson SG was originally introduced in 1961 as a complete replacement for the Les Paul. The new design was thought to be a more modern solidbody design, with sleek bevelled edges and two sharp cutaways. By late 1963, the Les Paul moniker was dropped, and the SG (or Solid Guitar) became an entirely separate model. The Gibson SG has remained in steady production ever since earning its place as one of the truly classic solidbody guitars.

This is a great playing vintage SG with a cool vibe. There are various minor nicks, chips, dents & dings, surface scratches & light player wear. The rear control plate has gone missing and is replaced with a home made plastic piece. This can be easily replaced.
Original wide Gibson frets are in good shape with little wear showing. Closed back Gibson tuners are in perfect working order. Neck is straight & truss rod works fine.
Contoured, solid mahogany body is very resonant & appears to be one piece. The guitar shows no cracks or repairs. 5-ply, small black pickguard is in great shape with no cracks. Original stopbar tailpiece with adjustable Gibson “harmonica” bridge & chrome hardware.
The tone and sustain is everything you'd want from a vintage SG, and the original T-Top humbuckers deliver great warmth and articulate, powerful tone. The guitar's natural acoustic voice translates well through these pickups with ample low end, meaty midrange, and glassy treble frequencies with rich harmonic content. Easy on the back at a bit over 7lbs, this SG is resonant, well balanced, and a joy to play.
Comes in its original Gibson hardshell case in aged but good condition.
