This is a very special PRS McCarty Soapbar model from 2007, featuring a solid one-piece all BRAZILIAN Rosewood neck.
It is one of a limited run of only 250 worldwide, so they didn’t make too many of these. It has a lovely striped maple top finished in striking Emerald Green, a solid mahogany body, and a one piece neck in (did we say …) solid Braz Rosewood. We’re not talking just the fingerboard here – it’s the entire neck that’s made from one superb block of Brazil’s best.
The mahogany body gives the guitar a fantastic sustain and thick tone, while the Brazilian rosewood neck with PRS signature Bird inlays provides great feel and looks to match. PRS’s McCarty soapbar p-90s are wired to master volume and tone controls and a 3-way switch. The guitar is in overall excellent condition with virtually no signs of wear.

From PRS – “There are a lot of folks out there who absolutely love the sound of a good P90 soapbar – they have all the character of a singlecoil with a bit more heft. The PRS/Seymour Duncan soapbars have nice bite and grind, single notes are sweet and clean but still have plenty of heft to them, and they are very responsive to where you pick on the string.”
These are sweet pickups – chords sound full and round, while single notes sing sweetly. Being a relatively low output pickup, these soapbars have a many usable voicings by simply adjusting your volume and tone controls. And they don’t load up the input stage of your amp with any unwanted mud, unless you want it.
The PRS McCarty model pays homage to a legacy of innovation. As the President of Gibson during a true golden era of guitar building (1950-1966), Ted McCarty was a pioneer of the electric guitar and musical instrument industry. In the late 1980’s, Paul Reed Smith called on Ted to consult with him on guitar design and production techniques. He not only served as Paul’s mentor but became a great friend of Paul and everyone he met at PRS.
In 1994, PRS released the first McCarty, an instrument that incorporated the full spectrum of techniques and knowledge Paul had gained from Ted as well as his own experiences as a guitar builder. The PRS McCarty model features a slightly thicker back for enhanced tone and sustain.
John from PREMIER GUITARS has actually played this guitar at a gig, and it was sensational in every way. Light & comfortable with tone to burn. Lots of variety available in the pickup selection, sweet, chimey chords, and plenty of sting in these soapbar pickups to cut through the band when needed.
This PRS McCarty provides your ears with an excellent example of how Brazilian rosewood really DOES sound magical! There's a scintillating snap on the front end of every note thanks to the rare tonewood, which also imparts a brilliant airiness to the top-end. The mahogany body and the maple cap produce lots of pleasing harmonic content, and there's a push in the upper-mids that allows you to get some really muscular rock tones. The lows are tight and clear in a way that reminds me of my favourite vintage instruments.
This is an impressive instrument in fabulous, as new condition. It has been meticulously looked after and presents with no visible player wear. PRS are renowned for their quality control and attention to detail, and they don’t come much better than this.
Comes in its original PRS hard shell case with all tags & paperwork.
