The Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 is the core of the PRS family. Along with the Custom 22, the Custom 24 was one of their first production models, and it remains one of the favourites in the PRS line.
The CU24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists and pro musicians worldwide, the Custom 24 has become the go-to guitar for those looking for a guitar that combines the best attributes of a Strat and a Les Paul in one instrument.

In 1997 John from PREMIER GUITARS was given a factory tour of the current PRS facility in Maryland USA by the then marketing manager (whose name I have forgotten …) The experience was notable in the attention to detail given to every phase of assembly, from the super high tech machinery to the hand finishing of every component, fit and finish. The whole tour was so impressive I had to have one of these great guitars, so the purchase of a PRS CU22 took place that day. I still have that 1997 guitar & and I still love it.
The PRS guitars are super versatile, with a wide variety of great sounds, and a build quality second to none. They are rock solid, stay in tune, travel well and cover every style of music.
This one is in excellent condition. It has a few tiny dings and dents which are barely visible, and some very light scratches on the back, and that’s about all in terms of player wear. It has no fret wear and everything works as it should. It has a super fast regular carve neck with lovely bird outline inlays.
This CU24 has had its pickups replaced with an unusual but excellent pairing – a Bare Knuckle War Pig P-90 in the neck position, and a Bare Knuckle Ragnarock humbucker at the bridge. And do they sound good ? Why yes ! It’s a great combination.

This CU24 is finished in Charcoal Grey and its quilted maple top is a “Ten Top”. For newcomers to the PRS story here’s how the company defines a Ten Top – “A very small percent of the maple trees cut in North America are actually figured. To make “10-Top” status a PRS top must have clearly defined figure across its entire top with no “dead” spots. A guitar designated as a 10-Top will usually have a small “10” written on the back of the headstock in the upper right corner.”
All PRS instruments feature impeccable craftsmanship and innovative designs, exemplified in some of the most sonically versatile instruments of the past few decades. Since its introduction, the PRS CU24 has offered a unique tonal option for serious players seeking that defined PRS tone and playability.
Comes in its original PRS hard shell case in reasonable condition, with some wear but structurally sound.
