As the next major company founded by Leo Fender and George Fullerton after the sale of Fender Musical Instruments, Music Man offered an opportunity for this dynamic duo to further refine and build upon the innovations they created at Fender. Two version of the Stingray guitar were produced. The Stringray I had a flatter fingerboard while the Stingray II had a rounder 7 ¼” radius. The StingRay II model was offered from 1975-1982.
The design is similar to Leo’s earlier Stratocaster models, with some notable differences including two active humbucking pickups which could be controlled by a four-way pickup selector switch, a treble boost switch, one volume and two tone controls.

Cosmetic condition is overall very good. The guitar shows light player wear with small dings, dents & scratches expected on a guitar of this age, but nothing offensive.
The original medium narrow frets are present and showing remarkably little wear. The guitar plays comfortably and cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and responsive truss rod.
Most importantly, it sounds damn good. Although it may be inspired by Stratocaster design elements, and it has a similar feel, it does not sound like a vintage Strat.
But these humbuckers are clear and bright, with robust output and a character all their own. The switching is very versatile which allows a player to dial up many desirable tone combinations and the internal preamp preserves 100% tonal fidelity at any volume setting.
Besides being a great all-rounder with 100% functionality, this guitar is in is a somewhat unique phenomenon - a genuine original Leo Fender design which is still affordable.
Comes in a non original hard case which is functional but has seen better days.
