This one was bought second hand from Guitar City in Sydney back in the early 80s, and it has been well loved, well played and well looked after since then.
Rumoured to have been based on Gibson’s successful SJ/Country Western models, the highly popular CW series has remained one of Maton’s most popular models for more than fifty years. Built for the professional musician, the guitars boast real warmth, with neatly balanced mids and highs, along with ample projection for any setting.
Features include Queensland maple back and sides, fine-grained solid sitka spruce top, hand-finished maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard. Plus a rosewood headstock veneer, low-profile medium-jumbo frets, and a two-way truss rod.
Naturally, it shows some scuffs & small dings but generally only light player wear. Frets are in good shape apart from some wear evident on the first three which does not affect playability. The guitar plays very smooth and easily, with perfect medium to medium-low action. The original tuners have been replaced with high quality Gotoh style units.
This is a fine 70s Maton acoustic, with 40 years under its belt, and good for another few decades of service.
Comes in its original Maton hard case in good condition.
