Amazonian Rosewood is one of the rarest tone woods in the world. It's not endangered or on a protection list, it's just in locations not easily accessed by industry. Martin managed to procure a naturally fallen log of this rare wood and with it created a handful of "one off" guitars that are now extremely rare and collectable.
The OM-42AR guitars were built in 2003 as a very limited edition of only 20. This one is number nine.
Built to the specs of an OM 42, the top is Italian Alpine Spruce and the back& sides are Amazon Rosewood, which belongs to the same family as Brazilian Rosewood and has a similar sound quality.
Bracing is forward shifted in the pre-war location. The top is trimmed in style 42 abalone with a style 45 pattern of inlay on the bound fretboard. The inside of the body bears a numbered label signed by CF Martin IV.

Bought new by its one owner back in 2004, this instrument is in beautiful condition. Played only at home, well looked after and carefully stored in its original case.
Some months ago we noticed that the action was not what it should be, so we had it inspected by guitar tech Luke Parry from Northern Beaches Guitar Repairs, who does a lot of work for PREMIER GUITARS. Luke determined that the neck angle had changed over the past 16 years and this guitar would definitely benefit from a neck reset.
This has now been completed and this OM-42AR now plays and sounds better than it did when we originally listed it a while ago. Luke did an excellent professional job, and there is no evidence of any work having been carried out – you would not know the neck had been reset, but we are stating it here for the purposes of clarity.
It sings with a clarity not heard before. A rich and complex tone, with quite astounding volume from an OM model instrument.
This absolutely beautiful, limited edition Martin is simply a fabulous guitar in every way. Built to the highest Martin standards, this guitar is in a class of its own. It is so comfortable to play, with a lush tone and serious projection unsurpassed by any OM style guitar we’ve ever come across, except for an OM-45GE we sold some time ago for more than twice the price of this guitar.
There are few discernible signs of use except for a few light pick marks on the guard. The timber is unmarked, the metal untarnished, frets look unplayed, and the whole package presents virtually as new. It is in absolutely fabulous condition for a guitar soon approaching its 20th birthday. And it’s only going to get better.
Comes with its original Geib style Martin hard shell case in excellent condition.
