This is a very hard to find limited edition Martin 000-28GE Golden era 12 fret from 1996. This is number 34 from a total of 367 ever made, including two prototypes.
During the pre-war era, Martin's celebrated and unique blend of well chosen materials, optimized design, and handcrafted construction created what many collectors and guitar experts believe to be the finest acoustic stringed instruments ever made. The idea for a specific Golden Era Series challenged Martin to recreate, as faithfully as possible, models that have long since become legendary.
The 1996 000-28 12 Fret Limited Edition Golden era draws its inspiration from an obscure but highly sought after pre-war Martin size and style. The graceful 000 12-fret body shape, with a slightly wider 48mm or 1 13/16" neck width at the nut, is particularly suited for guitarists who favour more delicate fingerstyle techniques.
A bookmatched sitka spruce top is braced with the original pre-war scalloped X-brace pattern, shifted to a position 1" from the soundhole. Linen reinforcement strips have been glued in regular intervals along the interior surface of the Indian Rosewood sides, to further strengthen the body. The two-piece back, also fashioned from solid Indian Rosewood, features the traditional zig-zag back inlay strip.

The 000-28 GE is what every Sitka/Rosewood guitar aspires to be. We really like this guitar's husky voice and responsiveness. The neck shape is a modified V-shaped profile with adjustable truss rod, which is super comfortable. And the 1 13/16" nut is a most welcome. feature.
This guitar is in fine shape. It shows a few very minor scuffs & small dents, but nothing offensive. The only change that we can see from day of issue is the addition of a K&K Mini pickup which sounds fine.
The frets are good, the neck is straight & true, the saddle is fine, the top has aged well, and this is one heck of a good guitar.
Comes in its original Martin hard shell case in good condition.
