The Gretsch Synchromatic G6040MCSS is a reinvented update on the company’s very early Synchromatic jazz guitars dating back to 1949.

This is an outstanding Gretsch G6040MCSS acoustic electric archtop from the company’s Professional Series. It has a solid spruce top with amazing tone and looks to match.

It should be noted that this is NOT Gretsch’s more recent G100CE Synchromatic, which is a different and significantly cheaper model made elsewhere in Asia.

The sound of this G6040MCSS is big and woody with articulate treble and focused bass response. The neck mounted Filter'Tron pickup provides a warm and detailed tone that sounds wonderful through a good tube amp or a high quality solid state amplifier.

This is a fine jazzbox from Gretsch with beautiful appointments, professional playability, meticulous fretwork, all combined with the perfect neck angle.

From Gretsch -
“A customised version of the original 400C Synchromatic, the 6040MCSS Synchromatic Cutaway Archtop features a vintage-style Filter'Tron pickup. With its fine-grained solid spruce top and select rock maple back, sides and neck, it's a truly fine Gretsch® archtop. The body, fingerboard, headstock and pickguard are bound in extra-wide black and ivory celluloid; other features include an easy-playing oval rosewood fingerboard with extra-broad nickel-silver frets, chromatic tailpiece and compensated Synchromatic bridge.”

This guitar is a real work of art. It has flame maple back and sides, with a fine-grained solid spruce top, a maple neck and ebony fretboard. The “High Sensitive” Filter’Tron™ pickup can take you from smooth jazz tones to blues, classic rock and rockabilly. The guitar features Gretsch’s innovative chromatic tailpiece, which compensates for different string gauges and equalises tension across all strings. The result is uniform action across all strings and a very smooth playing experience.

It also has a Gretsch synchronized bridge which optimises the contact between your strings and the top of the guitar. The result is crystal-clear harmonics with incredible richness and sustain across all strings.

Gretsch has been handcrafting guitars for over 135 years. The unique sound of the Gretsch semi-hollow body guitar first came to notice with 50s jazz, and later became synonymous with rockabilly music, and the broad musical styles of the one and only Chet Atkins.

This guitar is the embodiment of the company’s commitment to quality and unique sonic expression. It is in excellent condition, with virtually no sign of player wear.

Comes with its deluxe Gretsch hard case, all documentation and Gretsch Limited lifetime warranty.
