From Gibson –
“The 2018 Gibson ES-335 Traditional is not a revolution, it’s an evolution. Built on a pedigree of performance and quality, this guitar takes things a step further. The ABR-1 bridge is enhanced with titanium saddles for increased clarity, definition, and sustain. The MTC Plus control assembly is hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors and our MHS humbucking pickups, resulting in that distinctive Gibson tone that players crave.”
When it comes to electric guitars, the Gibson ES-335 is easily one of the most legendary designs. Born in the late 1950s, much of the design of the 335 has gone unchanged throughout the decades.
This Gibson Memphis ES-335 Traditional is no exception. However, this semi-hollowbody electric guitar does add touches such as titanium saddles, MHS humbucking pickups, and an ABR-1 bridge to bring the instrument into the modern day.
Add in the ES-335 Traditional’s vintage-correct wiring, and you have a semi-hollowbody electric guitar with the best of yesterday and today.
The first ES-335s that rolled off the Gibson production line have truly achieved legendary status. The warmth of their semi-hollowbody design and the versatility of their two humbucking pickups — it’s a magical recipe that made the original ES-335s sought-after guitars among collectors who are often happy to pay astronomical prices for instruments in good condition.
This superb 335 is handcrafted in Gibson’s Memphis Custom Shop on Beale Street, from a city that knows how blues should sound. Carefully selected maple and poplar tonewoods give the Gibson Memphis ES-335 Traditional its signature bark. And a carefully calipered body cavity with a solid center block gives it its controlled howl and haunting sustain, all while reducing onstage feedback.
Loaded with a pair of MHS alnico pickups, each with its own volume and tone controls, this ES-335 will let you dial in chiming country tones as easily as savagely distorted rock tones.
The Alnico III neck pickup gives you classic hollowbody-style tones for everything from smooth jazz to dirty blues. Flip to the Alnico II bridge pickup, and you’ll command sounds from bright and clean to raw and mean. Many guitarists love alnico pickups for their ability to deliver a wide range of tones that will work for any style.
