Here’s a wonderful Fender CS Strat with an interesting back story.
The previous owner of this guitar bought the body direct from the highly regarded Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Jason Davis. Mr Davis worked at Fender Custom Shop and became a Master Builder in the late 1990s. He worked primarily on very limited edition models, some quite exotic, and left Fender to pursue other interests in 2004.
This body features the thin curves of an early 60s Strat, and was hand selected by Jason to be used in one of his own guitars. The neck pocket features Jason’s hand written signature.
The body later came up for private sale and made its way to Australia. By then it included a set of hand wound Custom Shop ’59 Strat pickups, single ply pickguard, trem bridge, block, saddles and electronics.
The body was then paired with a genuine Custom Shop ’58 Strat Relic neck serial # R49531. The Fender Custom Shop Certificate Of Authenticity for the neck is present and accounted for – see pic.
The result is a fabulous feeling 50s / 60s Strat with tons of vintage feel and old fashioned mojo. It is a wonderfully comfortable neck, medium C in profile, but with enough girth to fill your hands.
From chimey, glassy cleans to chunky grind, the 59 pickups deliver correct authentic tone. They certainly serve up the legendary spank, sparkle, and vibe of the originals.
Frets are medium vintage style with very little wear and lots of life left.
The body is finished in vintage sunburst nitro and has been lightly relic’d to give the guitar looks like it's spent time on the road.
The guitar weighs in at a comfortable 7.6 lbs.
This Strat looks totally vintage, and it plays like butter. If you savour the feel of a played-in guitar with a just-right neck and perfect fretwork with spot-on intonation, this could be your guitar.
Comes in a Fender tweed hard shell case in good condition, with trem plate, screws, manual and tags.
