Though its primary purpose was to produce one-off custom instruments for artists and the public, in 1989 the Custom Shop released a limited edition '59 reissue Stratocaster, from our research looks to be a run of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e500 guitars\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe instrument is based on a 1959 Strat and features a 3-ply pickguard, gold hardware and neckplate and comes in the famous Mary Kaye finish.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis guitar has certainly been loved and played and shows the cosmetic wear that comes with constant use. But as we have consistently found; a guitar that has been played a lot, in most cases indicates that it’s a great guitar, with this one being no exception.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThere has been significant player wear to the top bout, so much so that has exposed the wood in the glow of the Mary Kaye finish, with some areas of the exposed solid alder on show – which we think looks great! Some areas on the sides have been affected in this way, showing natural wear of the guitar.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe body shows a number of light dings and some light to medium finish checking. Some minor scratches on the back but nothing too offensive. The guitar has minimal fret wear and plays exceptionally well. All of the wear is purely cosmetic and in no way effects the exceptional playing quality of this wonderful guitar.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis guitar sounds great delivering a classic Stratocaster tone and is an incredible early Fender Custom Shop guitar\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e.
