This is an early ’62 Fender Stratocaster Reissue built at the original Fullerton California factory, before the move to Corona in early 1985.
The neck date is 1st February 1983, and it features the very deep body contours which are the telling characteristic of Fullerton era guitars. Its nitrocellulose finish and other original spec ’62 reissue features are all there including dark rosewood slab fingerboard, 3 way switch and potentiometers stamped 1378226, which dates them to June 1982.
This ’62 R/I Strat has the desirable features that collectors want, but also the goods to deliver the tone and playability that players require. It has a set of great sounding black bobbin pickups with staggered pole pieces and earlier cloth wiring.
This guitar features all the desired ’62 Fender specs and appointments and it has been played in nicely, with over three decades of added character.
Thin finish in Blonde, which is yellowing nicely
Tinted slim C shaped maple neck with 9.5″ radius fingerboard
American Vintage single coil pickups with staggered pole pieces
Three ply laminated pickguard

Vintage style tremolo
Vintage Kluson style tuners
21 vintage frets in unmarked condition
Weight is 7.8 lbs
This is a nice early example of the best of Fender workmanship from an era when the brand had got its engineering credibility back by assigning its best craftsmen to these early vintage reissues. This year pre-dates the establishment of the Fender Custom Shop by five years and it was these elite craftsmen that went on to be the first Master Builders at Fender.
This one is in fabulous condition. Very simply, it is hard to believe this instrument is into its 37th year. There are a few marks here and there, but nothing unexpected in a guitar that has been well played. The neck is set up with a fast low action and is completely unmarked, as are the frets. Tuners are solid & there is no tarnishing of the metal parts.
At some point a couple of stickers have been applied to the back & you can see where they resided, but gone now.
This 62 R/I Strat is super clean for its age, and it is in completely unmolested original condition. Nothing has been changed or updated because nothing needed to be. No modifications, no repairs & no issues. Just a great sounding pre Custom Shop reissue of a Fender classic in excellent shape.
Comes in its original Fender hard case in good condition, along with tags, manual and ashtray bridge cover.
