Breedlove's public perception over the last few years has tended to centre on its mid-price, Far East-sourced Atlas Series, which has successfully introduced the brand to a much wider customer base.
However, this is not to say that things haven't been happening back at the company's thriving US Custom Shop operation in Oregon.
In 2005 it introduced the Revival Series which, as the name suggests, harks back to vintage flat-top designs, presently embracing dreadnought, OM and 12-fret 000 body styles and available in Standard or Deluxe trim, as well as a raft of Custom options to special order.
The impetus behind the Revivals is to offer traditional alternatives to the established Breedlove designs where such features as deep-swept cutaways, lightning-flash bridges and the JLD bridge trussing system are distinctive if arguably quirky hallmarks.
In short, the Revivals aim to lure to the brand those players who perhaps considered that Breedlove was previously too unconventional for their tastes.
This particular 000 is pretty much a top-of-the-line custom ordered guitar from 2009, but it presents in almost new condition.

The woods for this guitar were handpicked by Kim Breedlove for the original US owner of this Custom 000. Mr Breedlove recently wrote to its current owner to say that this guitar if built today to the same specifications would cost over USD$6000.
Inspired by Martin's vintage 000, this 12-fretter has all the elegance you'd associate with the genre - the elongated body with its svelte, round-shouldered profile, retro detailing and, of course, a slot headstock with open-geared tuners, in this case a surefooted set of Grover Sta-Tites.
The solid redwood top looks stunning and literally glows in a certain light. Bracing underneath is a pre-war forward X pattern, common to all Revivals.
Ziricote is one of the most popular, visually striking exotic woods in the world. Originating primarily from Mexico, it is renowned for its “landscape” or “spiderweb” grain patterns. Its colours range from medium to dark shades of brown (occasionally with either a green or purplish tint), and are accentuated by intermingled bands of unpredictable, irregular black growth rings.
In pursuit of vintage correctness Breedlove might have been tempted to fashion the neck to a 'V' profile but instead it's an evenly rounded affair, with a moderate depth that feels great in all positions.
This one might rank as a mid-size acoustic, but it has a zest and punch that can mix it with the bigger boys.
The delivery is upfront and projecting without sounding harsh, there's an unforced responsiveness to the dynamics, while the tone sits pleasantly mid-way between bright and warm.
The current owner had a LR Baggs Element SL pickup system professionally installed by Saltmine Guitar Repair in Enmore. It features two mini thumbwheel controls for volume & tone discretely hidden under the soundhole.
Breedlove workmanship and detailing are pretty much impeccable, and especially so on this particular custom built model.
This 12 fret 000 Custom shines in every way – a beautifully made instrument with sound to match.
Comes in its deluxe Breedlove hard shell case in new condition.
