This is a punchy and powerful hand wired boutique combo amp made in Los Angeles USA by Tone Americana in 2012. It is the Phil X model which is based on the classic Magnetone 214. It is the exact same model as used onstage by Phi X all over the world when touring with his own outfits or legends such as Bon Jovi.
Please note this is NOT the later Evil Robot C-30 which is Chinese made and retails for rather less than the US made original.
The Evil Robot Phil X Custom 214 features a 30-watt power section and a three function toggle switch for Mellow, Normal or Bright operation. The front end includes two channels with independent volume controls which can be blended, delivering a range of tones from classic rock and blues, to country and jazz.
It comes with a unique ’50s-style vibrato and old school, chicken head knobs. On the back end, the combo amp features an external speaker out, impedance selector and remote foot switch connector for vibrato.
The amp also features industrial grade transformers and a custom 12” speaker customized specifically for an older vintage style tone. This is the export model so it comes with its original 240v wiring. And it weighs in at under 16 kg so it is an easy lug.
Apart from the input of Phil X, Tone Americana sought the help of recognised engineer John Kasha who was responsible for the unique look and vintage tones of the Phil X Custom 214 Combo.
This is a vintage tuned tone machine with lots of versatility depending on your requirements. But at its heart it is a wicked rock and roll amplification appliance. It is loud enough to hang with a drummer, cuts through the mix in a live setting, and also records beautifully. It is in excellent, almost new condition.
Comes with its original vinyl cover and vibrato footswitch.
