For more than half a century, Takamine has proudly dedicated itself to the art of fine guitar craftsmanship. Its longstanding devotion to innovation and continual improvement has placed it among the world’s premier acoustic guitar makers, with truly fine instruments that are the first choice of performing guitarists worldwide.
With humble beginnings in 1959 as a small family-run guitar shop nestled at the foot of Mount Takamine in the central Japanese town of Sakashita, the fledgling company took the mountain’s name in 1962 and began in earnest the journey that led to the success of the modern Takamine company.
From Takamine – About the TAN 76 non-cutaway OM size acoustic –
The spruce top delivers a rich, bright tonality that rewards even the most forceful playing – and what’s more, the sound will improve with age and regular use.
The TAN 76 benefits from hand-scalloped X-bracing which we fine-tune to suit the characteristics of the different soundboard materials. The backs and sides are of beautiful bookmatched rosewood, chosen to complement the inherent tone signature of the tops. The solid backs are braced to control bottom end response and maximise projection.
The Supernatural TAN76 OM body is handcrafted in our pro series facility that has been building precision quality instruments over five decades. The underlying theme of the Supernatural series is understated elegance. The gloss finish provides durability and lasting beauty. The look is accented by a genuine abalone rosette and fretboard dot inlays. Gold tuning machines with amber pearl buttons further add to the premium look of the instrument. All SuperNatural series tonewoods are hand-selected, premium grade timbres.
The acoustic-electrics come equipped with our palathetic bridge pickup linked to the CoolTube preamp. This combination captures even the finest sonic nuance, delivering a warm, clear amplified acoustic tone that is simply breathtaking.

This TAN 76 was bought new in 2015. Soon after that the owner turned his attention to archtops & jazz. So this delightful OM guitar has barely been played. It has lived its life in the protective custody of its form fitting Taka case, and has only occasionally been let out on day release on rare occasions.
There is no sign of player wear, frets and finish are 100%, not a mark on it. It has been looked after with care, but unfortunately not used much. Time for someone to change that – this is a great sounding, really comfortable OM size guitar with lots of character acoustically or plugged in. The TAN 76 model has been discontinued by Takamine. Its RRP was $2399, so this one represents a substantial saving on what is essentially a new instrument.
And the pickup system is one of the best we’ve ever heard. Lots of tone shaping options with a sweet sounding, valve based pre-amp and chromatic tuner on board.
Comes in original Takamine hard case in new condition.
