The Sho-Bud “Maverick” is single neck, 10 string pedal steel guitar with 3 pedals and one knee lever. The body is a light coloured wood burl. This model was manufactured between 1970 and 1981.
The Sho-Bud company name is derived in part from its founders, legendary steel players “Shot” Jackson and Buddy Emmons. The Sho-Bud company originated in Nashville in 1955 as the first dedicated pedal steel guitar manufacturer in USA. They were distributed by Gretsch.
To get those classic pedal steel swells, a quality volume pedal is required. Included with this guitar is the most sought after volume pedal for pedal steel guitar, the Hilton low profile pedal. Low profile means it is suited to operation whilst seated – which is kinda what you need when you play a pedal steel guitar!. Link here – http://hiltonelectronics.com/pedals
This pedal uses optical circuitry so there is nothing to go wrong compared to the mechanics of regular pedals. This is the “Cadillac” of volume pedals http://tonereport.com/blogs/tone-tips/volume-pedal-expose/page/two
In addition there is a bonus 6 pack of Cobra Coil E9 premium 10 strings, and instructional materials (USD $150 cost). They include 4 books, a variety of metal slides, 4 videos and fingerpicks – all you could ever want to kickstart your pedal steel career.
This Maverick is in excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically. It plays well, stays in tune and sounds great. The volume pedal alone is worth over US$300, and is in new condition with paperwork, instructions etc.
Comes in its original hard case in excellent condition.
