Retro Sound Amplification was a boutique amp builder based in Melbourne Victoria. They specialised in recreating classic Fender designs, and they did it very well.
This is Retro Sound’s take on Fender’s Super 5F4 combo from its “Tweed” era.
It is a compact twin speaker amplifier with sweet clean sounds and a nice crunchy overdrive. It has lots of headroom with a vintage woody tweed tone complimented by two 10” Weber Classic Alnico speakers. It is a punchy and lightweight combo amp suitable for any style of music.
Traditionally hand wired like the original Retro Sound have recreated not only the appearance, but also the legendary tone that made its mark in the mid 50s. It is constructed with traditional dovetail joinery and wrapped with authentic Fender style tweed cloth.

This a well built Fender clone, with tone to burn. We have sold a few Tweed era Fender amps here at PREMIER GUITARS in Sydney, including recently an original Fender Super Amp, and a narrow panel Pro Amp from 1956. And this one compares very favourably with those originals. This has been achieved by an almost slavish dedication to the original specs, and serious attention to detail in the build.
This amp is in excellent condition. There are no marks, dings, dents, tears or blemishes anywhere. It has been used in a home environment only, with a few jams occasionally over the years, but probably has never been allowed to deliver on its true capacity. Time for that to change.
Here is a fine option for those seeking authentic Fender tweed era tone, at a rather more reasonable price than for an original vintage unit.
