Since 1985 PRS USA has established itself as a high end brand offering guitars with “an elegant, modern, vintage-inspired design – the kind of guitar one might have expected Fenders and Gibsons to evolve into”.
In fact one of Paul Reed Smith’s earliest inspirations was to create a guitar that combined the best features of a classic Strat and a vintage Les Paul – a challenge well realised.
The Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 is the core of the PRS family. Along with the Custom 22, the Custom 24 was one of the first models, and remains one of the favourites in the PRS line.
This particular CU24 model has the Artist Model Package, which makes a great guitar even more special.
The CU24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists and pro musicians worldwide, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented tremolo system and PRS HFS treble and Vintage Bass pickups with volume and tone controls.

All PRS instruments feature impeccable craftsmanship and innovative designs, exemplified in some of the most sonically versatile instruments of the past few decades. Since its introduction, the PRS CU24 has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and defined PRS tone and playability.
In 1997 John from PREMIER GUITARS was given a factory tour of the current PRS facility in Maryland USA by the then marketing manager (whose name I have forgotten …) The experience was notable in the attention to detail given to every phase of assembly, from the super high tech machinery to the hand finishing of every component, fit and finish. The whole tour was so impressive I had to have one of these great guitars, so the purchase of a PRS CU22 took place that day. I still have that 1997 guitar & and I still love it.
The PRS guitars are super versatile, with a wide variety of great sounds, and a build quality second to none. They are rock solid, stay in tune, travel well and cover every style of music.
The kicker is that this one is in almost new condition. It has spent its life as an object of beauty, either in its case or hanging on a home studio wall.
There are some almost invisible swirling under the strings between the pickups, but no other visible signs of wear on the top. There are a couple of light marks on the back, but no buckle rash. The frets are 100%. There is no tarnishing of the hardware. The original finish in Royal Blue is perfect.
Comes with tags in its original PRS hard case in excellent condition.
