A 24″ scale acoustic guitar that has been designed for portability is a rarity. What’s even rarer to find is one made by a company as respected as Martin & Co.
Martin & Co are a part of music history, making fine guitars and various stringed instruments since 1834. Based in the US, this family owned and operated company have been the first to design and implement many techniques and features of guitar design that have now become industry standards.
Now Martin have brought their renowned design and manufacturing prowess into developing an affordable, portable guitar that can fit into a backpack.
Another great benefit of the body design is that this guitar is lefty friendly, adding to the list of qualities that makes this little beast a real gem. And you can easily reach every fret up to the 15th where the neck joins the body. Considering the projection and tone this little guy produces, it’s hard to understand why you’d risk taking a full size guitar with you on your casual travels.

For its size, this Martin Backpacker guitar has a surprisingly rich and loud tone, due primarily to the combination of a lightly braced solid spruce top with a solid mahogany neck, back and sides. Light as a feather, you can take this guitar with you anywhere without getting weighed down.
Despite its lightweight character, the Martin Backpacker is ruggedly built to withstand the rigours of outdoor situations like camping, hiking or venturing into the unknown musical frontier.
And even though it’s over 10 years old, this one presents as new – not a mark or blemish anywhere. Since this guitar was consigned, we have lowered the action and carefully refiled the nut slots to provide greater comfort and ease of playing. Everything is in order, & now it plays way better than a new one, and sounds sweet. The perfect travel companion.
