Here we have a very special Martin limited edition acoustic – a 000-28ECB. You’ll see plenty of 000-28EC’s around, as Martin continues to make new runs of this model in East Indian Rosewood. But this one is the 000-28ECB – made in a limited run of only 500 instruments, and it features Brazilian Rosewood on the back and sides. It is # 412 out of 500 ever made.
From Martin –
”The 000-28ECB… has the smaller 000 body size that Clapton prefers and that is particularly popular among finger style and blues guitarists who like a clear and balanced sound together with the string flexibility that the shorter 24.9″ scale length allows. Crafted with solid woods throughout, the sides and back are constructed from solid Brazilian rosewood, and the top is bookmatched from select Sitka spruce for optimum tonal response.
The rosette is embellished with delicately inlaid herringbone pearl, and the body is bound with grained ivoroid. A genuine ebony fingerboard features abalone diamonds and squares bordered in mother of pearl. Eric Clapton’s signature is inlaid in mother of pearl between the 19th and 20th frets. Each 000-28ECB will bear an interior label, individually numbered in sequence with the edition total and personally signed by Eric Clapton and Martin Chairman and CEO C. F. Martin IV.
The 000-28ECB is tastefully appointed with a hand beveled and polished tortoise coloured pickguard. Premium Waverly nickel-plated open-geared tuning machines are equipped with vintage style “butterbean” knobs. The squared headstock bears Martin’s tasteful but elegant old-style decal logo.”

John from PREMIER GUITARS owns (and loves) a nice 000-28EC (with Indian Rosewood fingerboard), but this ECB Limited Edition is another beast altogether – in a class of its own. It is so comfortable to play, with a rich tone and serious projection unsurpassed by any 000 style guitar we’ve ever come across.
There are few discernible signs of use except for a few light pick marks on the guard. The timber is unmarked, the metal untarnished, frets look unplayed, and the whole package presents virtually as new. It is in absolutely fabulous condition for a 17 year old guitar. And it’s only going to get better.
Comes in its Deluxe Vintage Series Geib hardshell case in new condition.
