Here is a rare bird – a Jerry Jones Master Electric Sitar in original condition from 1998.
From Jerry Jones site – “The Coral Sitar® was such a defining sound of the 60s and with our refinements you will feel like you have returned to those days. Our precision made sitar Buzz bridge produces that now familiar whirring sound and provides for accurate string intonation. The 13 sympathetic strings can be tuned in a variety of ways and can be played as accompaniment. Sizzling tone great for stage or studio.”

This sitar is in excellent condition with a few small blemishes to the finish which can be seen in the photos provided. It has practically no fret wear and no issues. We’ve just added a little polish & new strings etc – plays great & stays in tune! It has the required 9-42 on it & the action is very light. All the right sounds are there, all controls noise free. Very handy in particular that the pickup under the sympathetic strings has its own volume & tone controls. Jerry Jones built these to meticulous standards in his Nashville facility from 1990 to 2011 when he retired.
The pickups perfectly capture the sound of the old Danelectro built Coral Sitars of the 1960’s, and with the ever-increasing demand for these instruments which are no longer being made, these JJ sitars have seen a steady increase in value since the retirement of Jerry Jones and closure of his shop.
This instrument comes from Royaltone Studios in LA, one of USA’s most famous studios before it was sold to songwriter/producer Linda Perry. It has not been on the road, has rarely left the studio and is now on display at Premier Guitars in Sydney.
