Hard Road guitars are built by Paul Kneller in the village of McLean in northern NSW, Australia.
This is Paul’s take on the iconic SG Custom, and it has been crafted with care and attention to detail. Starting with an accurate solid mahogany body, with a set neck and quality hardware, he has created a very affordable and very playable version of a Gibson classic.
The pickups are –
Neck – Seymour Duncan JB
Middle – Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates
Bridge – Seymour Duncan JB
Other features –
Bound rosewood fingerboard with hand made rectangular fret inlays
Mahogany face plate on headstock with inlay
Medium jumbo frets
Gold plated Gotoh closed back machine heads
Gold plated ABR style bridge & stoptail
Era correct laminated pickguard
High quality 3 way toggle switch and input socket
2 x volume, 2 x tone controls
This is a well built & great sounding SG Custom which is comfortable and easy to play. Finished in stunning vintage white.
It has been a standby guitar, and has primarily resided in a home studio. It has been well looked after and shows virtually no signs of player wear.
Everything works as it should, frets show no wear, the neck is straight with a medium low action. Truss rod works perfectly & the tuners are strong. The Duncan pickups are about as good as you can get for an application such as this – clear, rich & complex humbucker tones – perfect for 3-up configuration.
All in all, this is a nicely piece of handworked luthiery, well suited to be in the company of the big names of Guitar Land, but without the big price tag.
Comes in a quality gig bag in good condition.
