Production of the Gibson L6-S ran from 1973 to 1981. It was originally designed to be a solid body version of the L5 hollowbody jazz guitar as the body shape is wider than a Les Paul with the bass side upper bout resembling a more traditional hollowbody shape.
As a long term owner of an L6-S since 1975, John from PREMIER GUITARS can attest that the strong suit of this guitar is the fast neck and easy access to the full 24 fret of the fingerboard.
When this guitar was introduced there was no other 2-octave guitar as easy to play as this. Notable players included Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin.
This one is the L6-S Deluxe model from 1978.

This guitar is in very good condition. In fact it is remarkably clean for an instrument of its age. The neck is straight and fast, and frets are fine. There are a few very light marks about the body, but no finish wear on the back, or on the neck. Although it has been well played, It has certainly been looked after well.
