This is a very nice Fender Tele Custom made in Japan’s Fuji-Gen factory in 1996. It is finished in stunning Candy Apple Red, with double cream binding, a dark rosewood slab fingerboard and some killer sounding EMG pickups.
Its TL-62 stamp in the neck pocket designates it to be a reissue built to the specs of a classic 1962 Tele Custom, an original of which would set you back a pretty penny, if you could find one.
So here’s a fine looking 20 year old with stunning looks, that won’t break the bank. And it happens to play beautifully and sound excellent. These are active single coil EMG pickups that sound characteristically fat when dialled up, but still retain that renown Tele twang and sparkle when needed. And being an active circuit, there is absolutely no noise or hum from the pickups.
There is an interesting red button on the control plate, which is actually a momentary switch that is not connected. Who knows what that was for, but right now it’s just sitting there, looking pretty.

The neck is clean and straight. It is a pleasure to play with its medium C shape and low action.
This is a fine example of a nice Japanese made 90s Telecaster, in rather fabulous condition. Frets are good, intonation has been nicely set, tuners and truss rod work perfectly. A well priced alternative to its Fender USA brethren, with the extra bonus of some very sweet EMG pickups.
Comes in non original hard case in good condition.
