Description
Here is a very nice Fender Stratocaster, USA made in 1979 and finished in the quite rare and super classy colour of Sienna Burst. It features a solid ash body and 3 bolt maple neck with a maple fingerboard.
This one is super clean for a 40 year old guitar. It has a few scuffs & light marks its original shiny finish, but nothing significant. There is almost no buckle rash on the back, and there is no tarnishing of the metal parts. There are no structural issues, and this one feels great to play.
The frets are in great shape, all electronics are 100%, the neck is clean & comfortable, and everything works as it should. It has a 5-way blade switch and its original non-staggered pickups intact, which sound excellent.
At 9.8 lbs this ‘79 Strat is no lightweight, but is does provide a girth on tone and a certain thickness in the midrange that is sometimes missing in the really light ones. It is nicely balanced and certainly not uncomfortable to play.
It has had a pro refret and a new nut by Craig Corcoran in Sydney. Apart from that, this Fender Stratocaster has all original parts from the day it was purchased giving the classic tones and feel expected of this 1979 vintage guitar.
All in all, an excellent, very original 70s Strat in superb condition, with that magnificent oversize headstock, rear skunk stripe, bullet truss rod and a 3 bolt neck joint that does NOT move or slide around.
And that Sienna Burst finish is quite stunning, and very hard to find. Quite a looker, with sound to match.
Comes in a non original light aluminium case in good condition.
