The Fender Princeton Reverb combo is a 12 Watt guitar amp with reverb and vibrato initially introduced in 1964. The Princeton Reverb is the smallest blackface/silverface Fender amp with both tremolo and reverb. With a 10 inch speaker run by a 12-15W dual 6V6 amp, it delivers a true “American” Fender tone with punchy, responsive lows together with chimey highs. When it is cranked it tends to sound a bit “browner” than the bigger two-channel amps, meaning more breakup in the lower frequencies and mid-focused tone.
The first PRs from 1964 to 1968 were the Blackface era amps. In 1968 they were changed to the Silverface version with a drip edge around the grill cloth. Amps produced after the end of 1969 saw a change in circuitry, the removal of the drip edge and the rectifier was changed from a 5AR4 to a 5U4GB along with a change in bias resistor value. In 1980 and 1981 the Silverface version was cosmetically changed back to the Blackface. The model was discontinued in 1981.
This is a nice Silverface era Fender Princeton Amp from 1979 which has been placed inside a newer cabinet with a blackface front panel. Most significantly, it has also been given the blackface circuit treatment by respected Sydney amp tech Dave Peach, who has hand wired this ’79 baby back to Blackface specs from approx 1965.
Plus it has a top quality and very expensive JBL K120 12” speaker installed in place of its original 10” Fender/Oxford unit.
The Princeton Reverb is a great small gig amp, and a definitive recording amp. It will do everything its bigger Fender brothers will do but in a less loud kinda way.
The classic onboard reverb is present, and that wonderful throbbing Fender vibrato circuit is there in all its glory. The result is a wonderful, thick sounding 12 watts of vintage Fender fatness, that will break up nicely around 5+.

This Princeton Amp was brought into Oz directly from USA some years ago, and is still on 110v power, so a stepdown transformer is required. Its original reverb & tremolo footswitch is included in the sale.
A true Fender classic small amp, albeit somewhat revamped, in excellent cosmetic & playing condition.
