Want to play a classic 60s Strat without paying $20K ++ ? Here is a great “player grade” 1960 heavy relic Strat with all the rights bits, just not all from the same guitar.
Here’s the story. This is an excellent instrument hand built in Sydney with care and attention, sourced from the highest level materials in order to create a playing experience to rival that of a true 60s vintage instrument.
The neck is a genuine 1960 Fender Jazzmaster neck with a fabulous dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and clay dot markers. It has had its headstock reshaped and a Strat decal applied. There’s a handy pic of the relative headstock plan shapes for your reference. The longer ball on the end gives it away to the trained eye.
The neck had been professionally refretted and it’s a good job. The nut looks like the correct colour for that period but is possibly not original.
The tuners were on the neck when bought and we think they are period correct aftermarket Kluson style products, and given the appropriate relic treatment.
The body is a 2012 MJT (Mark Jenny) bought direct from USA, who provided the nitro finish and heavy relic treatment you can see from the pics. MJT is a very well regarded American custom parts manufacturer specialising in aged 100% thin nitro lacquer finishes. MJT link – http://mjtagedfinishes.com
The bridge is a Fender Relic bridge with “Pat Pending” saddles.
The pickups are Seymour Duncan Antiquities. It has a beautiful soldering job with treble bleed, NOS capacitor, new pots & 3 way switch on a period correct repro guard.
This is actually a fabulous guitar – feels & sounds fantastic, and built to play.
Comes with a G&G USA made case in new condition.
