Here is a true classic amp – a 1977 Silverface Fender Deluxe Reverb in well used but good condition. Revered by generations of great guitarists worldwide as the epitome of the classic Fender combo amp. The shimmering clean tones and chiming harmonics of the first half of the volume control meets the classic crunch and sweet saturation of the dial beyond 5.
This one has been well loved, but properly looked after. It’s internals look all original apart from a few cap replacements, which is to be expected for an amp this age. There is some rust on the metal parts, a few scuffs on the tolex, but the amp is structurally sound. The front panel grille is original and remarkably clean with only a few perforations.
It sports its original Fender speaker which is in fine condition & sounds mighty good.
Since its inception in the early 1960s the Fender Deluxe Reverb has remained the ideal recording and performing amp. Small, light and moderately powered, it produced big tube tone, with world-class Fender reverb and vibrato effects. For countless guitarists ever since, the Deluxe Reverb has been the go-to amp for that classic Fender sound.
The combination of size, weight and performance makes the Deluxe Reverb a true road warrior on gigs and in the studio. The Deluxe Reverb survived the CBS period with minor changes. Many people consider the Silverface amps just as sonically good as the Blackface models. Being almost a blackface amp with a new faceplate, the Silverface models have became popular value-for-the-money amps.
This one still has its original US 110 volt transformer so you’ll need a step-down transformer to use this one in Australia. It currently running a matched pair of 6L6 output tubes, and has been biased accordingly. Most recently serviced by respected Sydney amp tech Dave Peach.
Non master volume model, no push-pull-boost etc. Just the classic original Silverface configuration. No circuit boards here – it’s all point-to-point wiring. Original Fender footswitch included.
A nice example of one of the best amps ever made.
