This is an early ’62 Fender Stratocaster Reissue built at the original Fullerton factory, before the move to Corona in early 1985.
We believe this one was built in 1983 or 1984 based on the very deep body contours on this guitar which are the telling characteristic of Fullerton era guitars. Plus its nitrocellulose finish and other original spec ’62 reissue features including the fact that its potentiometers are stamped 1378330, which dates them to 30th week of 1983.
However there is no neck date present on this one, which was probably an oversight on the production line. There is no sign of changes to the lacquer on the base of the neck where the date would usually appear, and the original neck finish there remains intact. It’s just that the date is not there.
That said, it is identical in every way to the specs of other Fullerton 62 Strat Reissues we have seen.
This ’62 R/I Strat has the desirable features that collectors want, but also the goods to deliver the tone and playability that players want. It has a set of great sounding black bobbin pickups and earlier cloth wiring. You can also see that the rear pickup cavity has the hand-worked shape of the earlier guitars.
This guitar features all the desired ’62 Fender specs and appointments and it has been played in nicely, with over three decades of added character.

This is a nice early example of the best of Fender workmanship from an era when the brand had got its engineering credibility back by assigning its best craftsmen to these early vintage reissues. This year pre-dates the establishment of the Fender Custom Shop by five years and it was these elite craftsmen that went on to be the first Master Builders at Fender.
This one is in fabulous condition. Very simply, it is hard to believe this instrument is into its 35th year. There are a few light marks here and there, but very hard to see. The neck is set up with a fast low action and is completely unmarked, as are the frets. Tuners are solid & there is no tarnishing of the metal parts.
This 62 R/I Strat is super clean for its age, and it is in completely unmolested original condition. Nothing has been changed or updated because nothing needed to be. No modifications, no repairs & no issues. Just a great sounding pre Custom Shop reissue of a Fender classic in excellent shape.
Comes in its original Fender hard case in good condition.
