Founded in 1963 by Sound City engineer Dave Reeves, Hiwatt was one of the seminal British amp companies of the 60s and ’70s. The ’80s and ’90s saw the company defunct until it was relaunched in the early 2000s. The Custom Hiwatt amps are still made in Doncaster, England.
The Custom 50 Hiwatt Signature Series CP 212 Combo is one of the cleanest, loudest, bell-like and most pedal friendly amps ever built. It is a mean clean machine, with very clear sound output from down low to way high power levels, thanks to its legendary headroom.
This is a professional grade amp perfect for pedal-crafted sounds. All by itself (without any pedal), the amp delivers a crystal-clear, almost hi fi clean. And it will stay clean all the way up its volume dial.
The application best suited to this amp is to amplify your best crafted pedal soundscapes at any volume level, without any coloration or distortion from the amp itself. So whatever cool pedal tones you wish to dial up are delivered accurately and without compromise.
The amp is very powerful – 50 watts of Hiwatt really means something. It is perfectly suited to medium to large stage scenarios. Or it can be dialed down in the studio without compromising your tone, just the volume.
Built in England by Hiwatt’s Custom division, this amp features point to point wiring, high-end military grade components, superior cabinetry, and super quality finish in every regard. Powered by 2 x EL 34 output tubes. Speakers are 2 x Hiwatt Heavy Duty 12”
This particular amp was listed for over $5000 when new. It has been in a professional studio for 5 years, and has undertaken only light duties during that time. It has never been to a rehearsal room, let alone on the road. It is in 100% as new condition.
If you want superior all tube circuitry, big tone, headroom to burn and a build quality second to none, this is your amp.
