Bunya Top with Maple Silkwood Back and Sides.
Since the first Cole Clark guitar was released to the public in 2001, the Australian made company has quickly earned itself a stellar reputation among the acoustic tone elitists due to its natural resonance and unique sound.
In an environmental mission statement from co-founders Adam Cole and Bradley Clark, the pair have made a concerted effort to steer away from dwindling “Red List” timbers common to the luthier world and instead have focused on utilising tone woods native to Australia.
The resulting success is seen and heard in their signature series Fat Lady acoustic guitars and this example is no exception.
From Cole Clark –
“Cole Clark steel string acoustic guitars are the only mainstream acoustic to use a Spanish heel for integral neck construction. This means the neck is glued to the face along with the sides and the back so the neck is one piece all the way to the sound hole. On other guitars, the body is made then the neck attached, mostly with a bolt or dove tail join. Due to our method, the sound is unique. Cole Clark also has a carved top and back and uses a ridge system to join the sides to the top and back instead of kerfing.
The Cole Clark patented pickup system is the most acoustic sounding pickup available.
Aimed at finding a more natural tone when amplified and eliminating piezo ‘quack’, our pickups comprise different elements that only hear certain frequencies which they’re best equipped to handle. This is done using a combination of 6 loaded piezos under the saddle for bottom end, a face sensor that can be blended in to hear frequencies in the mid to high range (350hz maximum crossover) and a condenser microphone shelved to hear only extreme highs.”

This guitar is a high end dreadnought with some nice appointments, and a big sound. It has been a gigging guitar for a pro performer, but it has been well looked after. Some pick marks on the guard and at the bottom of the sound hole, & some very light wear on the back that can hardly be seen. Neck and sides a very clean. The guitar is structurally sound and everything works as it should.
Original frets show virtually no wear, neck is straight, truss rod works perfectly, action is low with new 12 – 53 strings. The ebony fingerboard is a delight, and comfortable to play in all positions. The sound is bright and punchy, with plenty of volume and projection.
But the revelation is the pickup. Cole Clark’s proprietary FaceBrace system allows fantastic versatility when combining just the right mix of bridge and body pickups. 3 way EQ & master volume allows super easy control and adjustment in battle conditions, so you get your sound just the way you want it, all without a science degree. And it’s very authentic and natural sounding.
This guitar has been professionally set up, it plays great and sounds excellent. This guitar is a fine all rounder, just waiting for the challenge of the next show.
Comes in its original Cole Clark moulded hard shell case in good condition.
