Rex
Vintage Rex AG-6 Combo - Aus 1968
Pickup currently unavailable
The Rex AG-6, a compact yet charming amplifier, was manufactured in Melbourne in 1968, during a period when Australian amp makers were gaining recognition for their unique designs and quality craftsmanship. This particular unit has a cool history, as the current owner acquired it from the son of the original owner, preserving its connection to its roots. Although it had aged gracefully, the amp required significant servicing to bring it back to full working order. Warren Brown, a highly skilled technician, handled the restoration, replacing necessary components and ensuring the amp retained its vintage tone while being reliable for modern use.
One of the key updates the owner made to the AG-6 was replacing the original Realistic 8-inch speaker with a Jensen speaker, known for its superior sound quality and clarity. This upgrade enhanced the amp's tonal response, making it more versatile for various playing styles. Additionally, he had Warren install a speaker extension lead, which allows the amp to be connected to an external speaker cabinet, expanding its potential for different performance settings. These modifications have not only improved the amp's functionality but also maintained its vintage appeal, making the Rex AG-6 a unique and valuable piece for any musician or collector.
This amp comes with a custom fitted cover.
