Fender announced the Jazzmaster at the 1958 NAMM show as a high-end jazz guitar with an array of innovative features and sleek sports-car inspired curves. Though the model never really caught on with jazz players, it was quickly embraced by surf rock players due to its unique floating tremolo system and mellower sounding pickups. Later, the Jazzmaster would find new life as an iconic instrument for a range of indie rock players.
In mid – late 1959 Fender switched from an anodized aluminum pickguard to a 3-layer celluloid tortoise-shell colour pickguard. This is a really lovely L Series Jazzmaster from 1964.

This 64 Fender Jazzmaster in very good condition and in original working order. Our information is that this one is 100% stock. The only things missing are a grub screw in one of the bridge saddles, the trem arm, and pickup selector switch tip. The bridge cover is in the case.
It was bought by its current owner direct from a private seller in USA approx 12 years ago. It has spent much of its time since then in storage. Which is a shame because this one deserves to be played. Yes, it has some bark off in places, and player wear associated with a 53 year old instrument. But everything works as it should, and the feel and sound is pure vintage Jazzmaster.
The neck has a medium C profile and its Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports the original fretwire and clay dots. The frets are in great shape, having been dressed and crowned a time or two over the years, but with plenty of life left in them, and currently showing only very light wear.
Weighing in at only 7.7 lbs, this one is a light and well balanced example, and very acoustically resonant. The tone is quintessential Fender, with a pair of black bobbin pickups that deliver the sparkle and twang of a Telecaster, but with a warmth and depth to the tone that you simply can’t achieve with any other Fender model.
The Kluson deluxe single line tuners are undamaged and working perfectly. Under the guard appears to be intact and unmolested. All electrics work properly and quietly.
