Hancock custom archtop guitars are built by brothers Dane and Sean and father Kim in the Hancock family workshop on Australia’s Gold Coast. Each instrument is completely handmade from start to finish and over 100 hours is spent constructing each guitar. This amount of labour means they produce a very limited number of guitars, but also results in instruments with excellent workmanship, the feel of genuine quality craftsmanship and a magnificent sound that only comes from a handcrafted archtop guitar.
From Hancock – The Jazz Bird
“This archtop is the perfect guitar for jazz gigs. The Jazz Bird has a custom laminated top and back with a bridge log to keep feedback to a minimum and results in a very robust instrument. The sound is delivered through a single hand-wound humbucker, with a body-mounted volume and tone control. An electronically earthed ebony tailpiece, ebony finger rest and fully adjustable bridge combine modern design with adjustable intonation and hum elimination. The option of single neck pickup or neck and bridge pickup is available. The aesthetics of this guitar are along modern standards, with a traditional electric archtop sound. This model exhibits bound S-holes and fingerboard. The Jazz Bird also features Mother of Pearl insignia and Art Nuevo emblem. This is a stunning modern handmade archtop, perfect for gigs and available at a very affordable price.”

This particular Jazzbird was a one-off custom order where the buyer requested appointments specific to his requirements. A subsequent owner later changed from the original single neck humbucker to a set of two Australian made Kinman HX pickups.
This instrument is great condition. It has been well looked after, and shows virtually no sign of player wear. It has a wonderful neck – super fast low action, no buzzes, killer ebony fingerboard & full C profile. This guitar has a lush acoustic sound, and the excellent Kinman pickups sound fab, with lots of tonal variety available.
This handcrafted full sized archtop exhibits superb workmanship, beautiful balance, and wonderful sound in acoustic or electric mode. Easily competes with the obvious big branded archtops costing twice the $$$, but with something a little extra special in the mix. Probably come out the winner, we’d say.
Comes in its original Hancock branded hard shell case.
