The Gibson Les Paul Classic was introduced in 1990 with a retail price of US$1,529. The least expensive Les Paul Standard at the time cost US$1,169. The Classic’s higher price was justified by its reissue-yet-modern vibe and was further enhanced by availability in several finishes, and in bullion gold on the top, sides, back and neck.
An immediate hit for Gibson, the Classic was tweaked further as time passed, including the introduction of the ebony, 3 pickup Black Beauty style instrument listed here.
With all the singing vintage tone of classic Les Pauls, the Les Paul Classic Limited Edition draws on the legendary Black Beauty LPs of the past. With a beautiful ebony, single-bound body, gold hardware, and gold-appointed humbuckers, the Classic Limited Edition looks as lovely as it sounds. An affordable, vintage-styled Les Paul for today’s player.
